SUMMARY:Spotlight in Denny in Luton
DESCRIPTION:We want everyone to be able to access our health and care services\, but know that there are barriers for some people – whether language barriers or that people have additional needs. This means that some people do not receive the healthcare they need.   \n\n\n\nIn 2020\, we started a community led review to really understand why people accessed services differently and why some people believed the NHS was not for them. We asked Reverend Lloyd Denny\, a well-respected pastor and community leader from Luton to lead the work and we called it The Denny Review. \n\n\n\nWe listened to people from different backgrounds\, including migrants\, people who are homeless\, Gypsies\, Roma people and Irish travellers\, LGBTIQ people\, those from disadvantaged communities and people with learning disabilities and physical disabilities. They told us about their experiences\, the problems they face\, and they worked with us to design some recommendations that they believe will make things better.  \n\n\n\nReverend Denny published his independent report in September 2023\, and since then we have been working with health and care organisations to act on that feedback and agree a plan to take the recommendations forward. \n\n\n\nJoin us and share your ideas on what else we can do to create a health and care system that works better for everyone. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nDate: Monday 4 November 2024 \n\n\n\nVenue: The Hat Factory\, Bute Street\, Luton LU1 2EY \n\n\n\nRegistration\, tea and coffee: 5:45pm \n\n\n\nMeeting starts: 6pm \n\n\n\n\nRegister your place on this link

SUMMARY:Mount Vernon Cancer Consultation - public meeting in Flitwick
DESCRIPTION: A public consultation on the future of Mount Vernon Cancer Centre has been launched\, it is running from 19 January to 29 March 2026. Patients\, staff\, stakeholders and local communities are invited to share their views on proposals. \n\n\n\nWhat’s being proposed\n\n\n\nThe main proposal is to relocate the cancer centre to a new\, purpose built facility next to Watford General Hospital. The new centre would bring modern\, specialist services together on one site\, with access to the full range of medical and surgical care needed for high quality cancer treatment. It would continue to support patients across Hertfordshire\, north west London\, Bedfordshire\, Buckinghamshire and east Berkshire. \n\n\n\nThe proposals also include: \n\n\n\n\nMore chemotherapy\, diagnostics and follow up care in local hospitals\n\n\n\nIncreased chemotherapy at home\n\n\n\nReduced travel for routine appointments\n\n\n\n\nA key part of the consultation is the option for a second radiotherapy unit at either:\n\n\n\n\nLuton and Dunstable Hospital\, or\n\n\n\nLister Hospital\, Stevenage\n\n\n\n\nThis would be in addition to radiotherapy at the new main centre and would improve access for people living in the north of the current Mount Vernon catchment area. \n\n\n\nIf you live in or near Central Bedfordshire\, come and find out more about the proposals and share your views on how they could be improved. Register here \n\n\n\nThere are many ways other you can share you views see https://mvccreview.nhs.uk/get-involved for details
