Maria Wogan has been appointed as the Chief of System Assurance and Corporate Services for the NHS Bedfordshire, Luton, and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board, when it takes on statutory responsibilities on 1 July 2022.

Maria Wogan

Maria has a background in the NHS and local government and has over 15 years board level experience.  She has worked as a Director in the Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes system for over 12 years and has experience in corporate governance, strategy, transformation programmes and communications.

Recently, she was responsible for leading on the establishment of the Integrated Care Board and Health and Care Partnership, working with partners to gain agreement on how the integrated care system should function in our area and how we can make a difference to the lives of people and communities.

Speaking about her appointment Maria said:

“I am delighted to be taking on this role. For the past few years, I have had a key role in transforming health organisations and looking for ways to integrate the NHS with other health and care organisations, so that we can deliver joined-up services for our population.

In 2020, as well as a number of months in a front-line role setting up Covid testing centres during the pandemic, I led a team to merge our three Clinical Commissioning Groups into one, and this year I have worked with all our partners to establish the Integrated Care Board, so I am excited about taking on this new role and working to help people in our communities live longer in good health.

“Part of my role will be to work with local people and communities to tackle health inequality and it is a real privilege to be able to serve in this way”

Confirming Maria’s role as Chief Officer for System Assurance and Corporate Services Felicity Cox said:

“This is an important role for us. Not only is the Chief of System Assurance and Corporate Services responsible for keeping us on track with performance and ensuring we hit targets for delivery, it also plays a key role in working with local people and communities across the partnership.

“Maria has played an important role over the last two years in helping to transform our organisations and with a strong pedigree in the NHS and local government, I am delighted to have her on board.”
