Dr Rima Makarem, Chair of NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board said:

“We send our most sincere condolences to the Royal Family at this difficult time.”

“I know that my colleagues from across NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board will join me in expressing our great sadness at the passing of HM The Queen.

“For 70 years, The Queen has dedicated her life to public service and the care of our nation.

“During her long reign, we have had the privilege to welcome her to Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes numerous times, where she has always shown great interest in the development of our hospitals, care settings and social housing. She has always been eager to understand how we are working and the benefits this brings to the health and wellbeing of local people.

“During the pandemic, I know her reassuring presence and regular messages of support to NHS staff provided comfort and pride, as we worked to protect local people from Covid-19.”
