Optimum health of women and their babies is the aim at the LMNS. However, services only start seeing women a quarter of the way through their pregnancies. To make the biggest impact and improvement to outcomes for women and their babies, professionals need to focus on Preconception: the period prior to becoming pregnant. The LMNS will be discussing their Preconception work at this event.
The ‘Healthy Mother, Healthy Pregnancy’event will feature a keynote speaker and other guest speakers who will discuss the need to support and educate women on the importance of optimising their health prior to becoming pregnant – particularly those with pre-existing health conditions including hypertension, high BMI, diabetes and mental health problems – to improve outcomes for both mothers and their babies.
As part of NHS England’s Core20PLUS5 approach to support the reduction of health inequalities, the Local Maternity & Neonatal System will be focusing on seldom heard groups including Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic & those from deprived backgrounds.

The Healthy Mother, Healthy Pregnancy event will be held from 9am to 4pm on Wednesday 8 February 2023 at Lockyer Suite, Rufus Centre, Steppingley Road, Flitwick, Beds, MK45 1AH. It is a hybrid event which you can attend in person or online via MS Teams.

A certificate of attendance will be available for all attendees. Hot drinks, snacks and lunch will be provided.
