The NHS in Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes is asking people to plan ahead for the bank holiday weekend and ensure they have the medication they need.

Some GP practices and pharmacies may have reduced opening hours or be closed over the bank holiday weekend, so patients are urged to collect their prescriptions and make sure family members also have enough medication for any health conditions.

The opening times of local pharmacies can be found through the NHS Find a Pharmacy site.

Dr Sarah Whiteman, Medical Director, Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board, said:

“By planning ahead, restocking your medicine cabinets, and taking steps to look after your health and the health of your friends and family, you can make sure you make the most of the Bank Holiday weekend.

“With the weather warming up, we’d also encourage people to take precautions to stay well by keeping out of the sun if you can, wearing sunscreen, and making sure you stay hydrated.”

If people feel unwell over the bank holiday weekend, they can check their symptoms and get access to advice using 111.nhs.uk online. NHS 111 is a free service which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

More tips on staying cool can be found on the NHS website.
