The COVID-19 spring programme will continue to focus on those at greatest risk of getting seriously ill, who will benefit the most from a further vaccine dose.

It is important that everyone who is eligible takes up the offer this spring. Current vaccines provide good protection against severe disease, hospitalisation and can protect those most vulnerable from death.

Cohort Eligibility

The eligible cohorts to be offered a free COVID-19 vaccine this Spring are:

  • Adults aged 75 years and over (this includes those who turn 75 years old by 30 June 2024).
  • Residents in a care home for older adults (people who are admitted to an older adult care home or become immunosuppressed by 30 June are also eligible)
  • Individuals aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed as defined by the Green Book, this includes:
    • Individuals with primary or acquired immunodeficiency states at the time of vaccination due to certain conditions.
    • Individuals on immunosuppressive or immunomodulating therapy at the time of vaccination.
    • Individuals with chronic immune-mediated inflammatory disease who were receiving or had received immunosuppressive therapy prior to vaccination.
    • Individuals who had received high dose steroids for any reason in the month before vaccination.

How to Access Covid-19 Vaccine

The NHS national booking system is now open for bookings for the COVID-19. Anyone eligible can book a vaccine appointment via the

Parents or carers can book a COVID-19 vaccination for children under 16 on their behalf. Eligible people aged 16 and over can also use the NHS App to book an appointment. People do not have to wait for the invite to book.

Housebound

Eligible Housebound individuals can get their vaccine from one of the providers listed below who will make contact and arrange a home visit date.

GP practices not participating in the Spring programme have been asked to submit their list of eligible housebound individuals to the providers in the table below. This includes those over 75 years old or Immunosuppressed.
