The general practice team, previously located on Church Street, is now based at the Integrated Health and Care Hub on Court Drive in Dunstable, benefiting from brand-new premises with 20 clinical rooms.
The new premises will allow the practice to offer patients better access to appointments with their growing primary care team.
Nicky Poulain, Chief Primary Care Officer for Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board, said: “The Integrated Health and Care Hub will help all of us to transform the way care is delivered to benefit people’s health and wellbeing by bringing together a mix of health and care professionals that will be delivering a range of health and care services.
“In addition, the Hub will provide space for community and voluntary organisations to come together to deliver collaborative services for the local community – all based on local health needs and priorities for residents.”
The Integrated Health and Care Hub is an exciting development offering primary care services, social care, community and mental health services, and specialist and wider wellbeing services to meet the needs of the population.
The surgery’s relocation follows a public consultation in 2019 that asked residents for their views on the development of an Integrated Health and Care Hub in Dunstable. All patients registered at Priory Gardens Surgery were invited to take part. Following the consultation, planning approval was given for a hub to be built, and for Priory Gardens Surgery to move into the new building.
The same clinicians and reception staff that worked at Church Street have moved to the new Hub, ensuring a smooth transition for patients. Patients registered at Priory Gardens Surgery have been notified about the move, and they do not need to take any action as their services will be automatically transferred to the new premises.
