Home » Changes to provider for Ivel Medical Centre, Biggleswade
The GP partners at Ivel Medical Centre in Biggleswade have notified Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board (BLMK ICB) of their decision to resign their contract to provide GP primary care services.
The ICB will continue to support the partners and staff to provide care during their contract notice period, which will end on 31st May 2023.
The ICB has commenced the process to appoint a temporary provider for 18-24 months from 1 June 2023 whilst we undergo a full procurement process to appoint a longer-term provider to secure delivery of sustainable general practice services for the patients.
Nicky Poulain, Director of Primary Care for BLMK ICB, said:
“We are saddened to accept the resignation from the current GP partners at Ivel Medical Centre, who have worked tirelessly for their patient population for many years. We will continue to offer them as much support as we can as they work their notice period and prepare to handover to the new provider.
“Services will transfer over to a new provider on 1 June 2023. Patients do not need to do anything, and we will keep them informed of developments.”
GP Jane Hartree, for Ivel Medical Centre, said:
“It is with a heavy heart, we have made the difficult decision that, as a partnership, we no longer feel able to provide the services we would like for our patients and have decided to resign our contract.
We would like to place on record our thanks to our loyal staff and patients who have supported us over many years.
We will work with the ICB and the new providers to ensure a seamless transition for staff and patients.”
Letters explaining the changes have been sent to every household with a patient registered at the practice, via post.
