Alison Borrett has been appointed to the NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board, as its third Non-Executive Member, when it takes on statutory responsibilities on 1 July 2022.
Mrs Borrett is currently Vice Chair of the Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group’s Governing Body, and chairs the Patient and Public Engagement Committee and Primary Care Commissioning Committee.
Alison, who has lived in Bedford for 26 years has a long retail career, having worked for Marks and Spencer and more recently, the John Lewis Partnership, where she was Retail Manager for Waitrose at the Bedford store.
Speaking about her appointment Alison Borrett said:
“I joined Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group in 2014 as a Lay Member for Public Participation and since then, I have had the opportunity to grow my role – taking on the Vice Chair of the Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes CCG after it merged in 2021.
“I am passionate about the work that we do in the NHS to care for people in times of their greatest need and in the last eight years, I have worked with colleagues to make sure local voices are heard.
“I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to continue to represent local people on the Integrated Care Board and help to embed a culture of co-production into the design of local services.”
The establishment of the Integrated Care Board has been delayed following the recent Omicron wave of the Covid pandemic but will form as a legal organisation on 1 July 2022.
“I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to continue to represent local people on the Integrated Care Board and help to embed a culture of co-production into the design of local services.”
Confirming the appointment, Dr Rima Makarem, Chair Designate for Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board said:
“We are delighted to appoint Alison to the Integrated Care Board as our Third Non-Executive Member. Alison has been central to making sure that local voices are heard in decision making, especially in primary care for many years and will bring a unique perspective to our board.
Her experience of working within the John Lewis Partnership and understanding cultural change will be crucial as we look to work closer than ever before with partners from across the system. She will be an asset to our team.”
