Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK) Health and Care Partnership is an ‘Integrated Care System’.

NHS organisations, local councils, Healthwatch, and voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations work in partnership to improve the health and wellbeing of local people living in our four local places:

  • Bedford Borough
  • Central Bedfordshire
  • Luton
  • Milton Keynes

Since our Partnership began in 2016, we have built the relationships needed to deliver better health and care locally and across BLMK so we can support people to live well for longer.

The Partnership Board was established in 2019. Its membership includes representatives from NHS organisations in BLMK, Local authorities, GPs, Healthwatch and voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations.

Health and Care Partnership

An Integrated Care Partnership will be established on 1 July 2022. It will be a joint Committee of the Integrated Care Board and the four local Councils. It will replace the Partnership Board and will be chaired by a local authority elected member.

The Health and Care Partnership will have core members from NHS organisations, councils, GPs, Healthwatch and voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations.

It will be responsible for the development and agreement of the Integrated Care Strategy for Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.

The Health and Wellbeing strategies from each of the Council boroughs and population health information will be used as a basis for the strategy.

Integrated care boards

The Health and Care Bill was passed in April 2022, stating that Integrated Care Boards would be established as statutory NHS organisations.

The Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board was established on 1 July 2022. It replaced Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) which then ceased to exist on that date.

Health and wellbeing boards

We work in partnership with our four local authorities to improve outcomes for the people who live in our area. We have senior representation on all our local councils’ Health and Wellbeing Boards.
