Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board (BLMK ICB) has confirmed Dr Sahadev Swain as its newly appointed GP Partner Member.

Dr Swain, who lives in Hertfordshire, has worked as a GP in Luton for the last 16 years, and brings with him experience from a diverse range of influential posts.

He currently serves as an elected member of the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Local Medical Committee Board, supporting GPs and practices to aspire to excellence in patient care by advising on and promoting the development of all aspects of general practice.

In addition, he has been a longstanding Board member of the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Faculty of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), as well as acting as Honorary Treasurer of the Faculty.

Dr Swain also served as a Board member and the Clinical Director of Prevention and Health Inequalities for Luton Clinical Commissioning Group, and was a founding member of the Luton GP Federation.

Speaking about his appointment, Dr Swain said: “Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care System has unique potential to achieve the ambitious objectives of delivering better homes, better education, better jobs and better health.

“I am passionate about holistic care, reducing health inequalities, and promotion population health through prioritisation and innovation, and I’m looking forward to being part of the system that makes such important decisions about the health and wellbeing of our local population.”

Rima Makarem, Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keyne’s Integrated Care Board’s chair, said: “We are delighted to appoint Dr Swain to the Integrated Care Board as our GP Partner Member. His extensive Board experience, as well as his grassroots experience as a GP in Luton, will bring invaluable insight to our Board as we work to deliver on our ambition of helping our communities live longer, healthier lives.”
