Thousands of patients are set to benefit as Kingsway Health Centre in Luton officially re-opens following a major renovation.

The renovation has been completed to provide a safe and modern premises for patients and staff and has also enabled fellow Luton GP practice, Conway Medical Centre, to move from their old premises into the first floor of the Kingsway Health Centre property.

The site now boasts additional clinical rooms, two receptions, digital consulting rooms new technology including separate touch screens for the two practices. The improvements also include new automatic entrance doors, a new lift, newly decorated premises, new flooring throughout the building.

The updated premises will improve the amount of space and clinical capacity and will enable the practices to continue to accept new patients.

The re-opening event, which took place on Wednesday 30 November, was attended by staff from both GP practices, Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes ICB, NHS Property Services,  Operose Management and PHP Group who have all worked in partnership to complete this renovation.

Rima Makarem, Chair, Bedfordshire Luton Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board (ICB), said:

“I am delighted with the renovation of the premises and for the local people who use these services. The renovation will provide our local population with a safe and modern primary care facility that can continue to employ more health care professionals and work collaboratively with other GP practices and health and care providers in our area.”

Richard Overall, Senior Property Manager for NHS Property Services, said:

“After working collaboratively with our NHS partners and our landord, PHP Healthcare Investments Ltd and their contractors to deliver this fantastic project, we are thrilled to be able to celebrate with them the official opening of the new Kingsway Health Centre. The redevelopment has been delivered to the highest quality standards, designed to provide the local community with a place that provides efficient, flexible, modern, and accessible accommodation, which they will hopefully feel the benefit of for many years to come.”
